SSE Renewables has selected Seaway7 as preferred supplier for foundations and inter-array cables at its 1.4 GW Berwick Bank B offshore wind development in Scotland, Offshore Energy reported. The proposed package includes foundation marshalling at a Scottish port that has yet to be identified. A final contract has not been awarded, and SSE is aiming to take a final investment decision on the project in 2027.

The agreement spans engineering, procurement, construction and installation, covering both turbine foundations and the subsea cables connecting turbines. According to SSE figures cited by Offshore Energy, the planned activity is expected to support 465 jobs in the UK, of which 400 would be in Scotland. Seaway7 would manage the work from Aberdeen and is expected to create about 160 direct positions. A further 105 jobs are anticipated within the UK supply chain.

Foundation marshalling at the unnamed Scottish port is expected to account for another 200 direct and indirect jobs. Separately, SSE’s plans for an operations and maintenance base at Montrose Port envisage 100 long-term positions and around 30 construction jobs. Including those plans, SSE puts employment created or supported by its Berwick Bank B commitments at approximately 600 across the UK, with more than 500 in Scotland, the outlet reported.

Berwick Bank B is the second phase of the wider 4.1 GW Berwick Bank development in the outer Firth of Forth, roughly 38 kilometres from the Scottish Borders coast. The Scottish government consented to the full development in July 2025. The 1.4 GW B phase subsequently obtained a 20-year contract for difference through the UK’s seventh allocation round in January 2026.

The preferred supplier arrangement extends an established relationship between SSE and Seaway7. Offshore Energy cited SSE as pointing to their previous work together on Scotland’s Beatrice and Seagreen wind farms, alongside their continuing collaboration on Dogger Bank in England.
