Alkavex, the steel trading business of Alkagesta, has undertaken a series of commercial visits in Tangshan and Tianjin, China, meeting steel producers, traders, processors and industry representatives. According to a statement published by Alkagesta, the engagements formed part of the venture’s continuing business development work in the country. This brief is based on first-party information from Alkagesta and is disclosed network-partner coverage.
Bayram Bayramli, China Business Developer at Alkagesta, led the meetings. The company said the programme provided direct insight into manufacturers’ production capabilities, supply-chain infrastructure and opportunities for international trade. Discussions included industry associations as well as businesses involved in steel manufacturing and processing, bringing several parts of the regional steel supply chain into the engagement programme.
Alkagesta described Tangshan and Tianjin as one of China’s most important corridors for steel production and exports. It said the visits strengthened relationships supporting Alkavex’s regional sourcing and trading operations. The account presents the meetings as commercial relationship-building activity; it does not identify the companies visited or disclose any supply agreements, purchase volumes or financial commitments arising from the engagements.
Alkavex is based in Malta and operates as a joint venture between Alkagesta and French steel trading company Navex SAS. Alkagesta holds the majority stake. The venture’s initial product focus is on semi-finished and finished steel, with China identified as its principal sourcing market. The visits therefore concern the supplier side of the venture’s stated trading model rather than a newly announced production investment.
On the customer side, Alkavex serves markets in both West and East Africa. Alkagesta said the business brings together market knowledge, logistics capabilities and trade finance to support demand associated with construction, manufacturing and infrastructure development in those regions. The statement did not specify shipment routes, delivery schedules or individual customer markets within either African region.
